Ya, and Tori the Gangster Doggie...
The annual Doggy Day organised by puppy.com was about a week ago. This time only Tori and Skeeter were able to go. Jackie and Lucy couldn't coz Rodney was too lazy, Fabien too busy and Dyanne had exams... poor doggies. But Tori is already a handful (code named Buffalo Dog), so we could not take the other two.
From the very beginning we all agreed that Skeeter should join the fastest eating duo contest. Kenneth and him did, and they WON!! He won a bag of doggie food, doggie bizkits n doggie shampoo. I told Kenneth he can have the shampoo for his efforts :-P I knew I could count on Skeeter. But according to Kenn he did not want to eat at first coz the food was a diffrent brand. With some coaxing, he took the first bite, and the rest was history... YEAY SKEETER!! Am so proud of you. Heheh. Now if it was Tori, she would have looked at Kenneth, tasted some of Kenneth's food, looked at her food, looked at Kenneth again, looked at the other dogs near her, barked at them, tried to pick a fight with them, looked at Kenneth again, and walked away. By then, half of the contestants would have finished their bowls of food already. Yes, that's how fussy she is with her choice of food.
We met Weina there with beautiful Sunshine the Lab, and Kenn's colleague Evan joined us with her cuddly little St. Bernard pup called Baby. Cute little pillow of a dog.
Daddy and Cassey joined us later on too, since it was also Father's Day. They were pretty entertained with the variety of dogs around us. Daddy was I think bewildered by the number of different looking dogs there were, and Cassey was just happy to play around with them. It's good to get that man out of his usual circle of boredom and tunnel vision.
Tori of course was having a blast at the lake, jumping in and fetching balls and mineral water bottles, with the other Goldens and Labs around. Of course at the same time picking a fight with some of them... that dog is such a fighter. Skeeter isn't the wet dawg type, so his post was either at the banks of the lake, at the mat or at a bush somewhere either smelling pee, poo or food...
After being dragged from one corner to the next, being smothered with mud and splashed with muddy water, we left around 2pm to head for Father's Day lunch. Rod's n Fabes joined us then, at Kanna Curry House. Of course we dropped the doggies off first and cleaned up a little.
Was a good day, and the dogs had a lot of fun. The rest of the day they just lazed around continously. Happy they got to spend time that way... unlike other more unlucky animals amongst us... I hope the dogs and pups up for adoption at the SPCA and PAWS kiosks as well the independant counters managed to find loving homes for themselves. I really relly really wish I could help more.
One day... I will be.
